To prevent certain people from drawing each other in your Elfster Gift Exchange (like spouses, siblings, or teammates), you can set up Draw Restrictions.
Creating a Gift Exchange with the same people? Never fear! Our ✨Draw Magic✨ will make sure they don't draw the same person they drew last year, as long as you start with a previous Gift Exchange.
How to Create Draw Restrictions 🎩
Click on Exchanges located in the menu bar
Select the Gift Exchange you are organizing
Go to your Guest List and scroll to the bottom
See Draw Restrictions at the bottom of the list, then click Configure
Select the name of the participant you’d like to create restrictions for
Check the boxes next to any name you don’t want that person to draw. It will automatically save
Repeat for each user that you would like to set restrictions for
✨ Restrictions are unique to each person, so if you don't want Rudolph to draw Blitzen, or Blitzen to draw Rudolph, both will need a restriction.
✨ Only the Organizer and Assistants can see the Draw Restrictions.
✨ Elf Tip! ✨ If the Gift Exchange was created by selecting Let the good time roll (again!) and clicking on a Previous Gift Exchange, the Elfster system will take into account the previous draw names and not assign the same names again until all of the options have been used. You will not see the names listed in the Draw Restrictions, but no worries, the elves are on it!
🛑 Draw Restrictions set by the Organizer limit the number of options that each Participant can draw, which may result in someone drawing the same name two Exchanges in a row
📝 Once you have set up Draw Restrictions for your Elfster Gift Exchange, they will be in place for any future exchanges with this same group.
